Maybe you want to feel fully present in your sexual life. You want to experience full-bodied enjoyment where you can be in all of your senses, stay connected to your partner, and feel safe in your intimate experiences.

But you just can’t get out of your head.

Things start off well but then your mind begins to wander. You think about the stresses of the day, the to-do list you’ve been neglecting, work drama. Then, you judge yourself for not being in the present moment and that derails you even more.

You begin to freeze and dissociate.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. So many of us dissociate during sex and intimacy and whether we know the reason why we do it, it can be so frustrating—especially when it seems to happen out of nowhere.

Do you want to break this cycle and learn how to come back into your sensual body?

Embodied Pleasure is a two-hour workshop that will give you basic tools to stay in your body during intimate encounters using somatic practices and breathwork techniques to ground you.

During this workshop, you’ll explore the unique reasons dissociation happens for you and learn how to safely move through it without overriding or retraumatizing yourself.

Full-bodied pleasure can’t happen unless you’re in your body. If you’re craving to feel more present in your sexual/sensual life, Embodied Pleasure is for you.

*I use the word ‘sex’ as an all-inclusive word that includes any and all physical and sensual intimacy with yourself and others, not just penetration or orgasm.

  • What (and why) dissociation is and how you can work with it instead of avoid it.

  • Gentle, trauma-informed somatic practices you can do during intimate moments to help you safely come back into your body and the present moment.

  • How to reconnect from a freeze response without overriding or retraumatizing yourself.

  • Journal prompts to help you uncover, explore, and vocalize your sensual/sexual needs and desires

  • Time for Q&A and community sharing!

Meet your teacher

My name is Ev’Yan Whitney (they/them). For the last 15 years, my work as a somatic practitioner and Sexuality Doula® has focused on pleasure activism, trauma reconciliation, and embodiment.

In the nearly two decades that I’ve been working with clients and students, I’ve seen how frustrating dissociating during sex can be. And as a survivor, I’ve felt that frustration viscerally.

What I’ll be teaching during Embodied Pleasure is a combination of my skills as an educator and practitioner and practices that I’ve used personally during my own experiences of freeze and disconnect.

I’m so excited to share it with you!

 FAQs

  • Absolutely! During this workshop, we’ll be focusing on all forms of physical intimacy and pleasure that might be challenging for you to be fully present for, not just intercourse.

  • Not at all! This workshop is for people who are single, partnered, and everything in between. And if you are partnered, your partner doesn’t have to participate.

  • Yes! As a survivor myself, my goal is to try to create spaces and curriculum that feel as safe and gentle as possible for various bodies, identities, and histories. As we’re in space together, I’ll be inviting you to check in with your body and tend to what it needs. I’ll also offer body-based grounding practices that you can use throughout if anything gets activated for you.

    That said, because we’ll be exploring domains that can be activating, it’s typical for things to come up that might be uncomfortable for you. I ask that you please prepare for that when you arrive.

  • I recommend bringing a notebook + pen for taking notes. Please wear clothes that you feel comfortable moving in. I also recommend you bring an object to help you ground (a crystal, blanket, etc.) if you need it.

  • I don’t have any plans to do this workshop anytime soon. :(
